My mother-in-law "gave my daughter your book for her 6th birthday. Since that time a year ago we planted a butterfly garden next to our deck (even starting the milkweed from seed!) and my daughter took that project to the county fair.
Tonight Isabella had to give a demonstration speech for her 4-H club and she chose to demonstrate how to create a butterfly garden. All this from your book!
I just wanted to say thank you for writing such a wonderful story and for providing all the resources. I have had so much fun with Isabella and her brothers throughout this process."

"My name is Lisa. I just wanted to share a serendipitous
experience with you. I was at a library book sale this past weekend, and I
literally saw and snatched up your book. My family has been planning on
going up to Ellwood Main and Tecolote Canyon this weekend, so I thought the
book was a perfect read for our six-year-old in preparation for our excursion. I was even more delighted to discover that the book was autographed by you and that you live in Santa Barbara!
Talk about a book having wings and taking flight...you never know where it ends up. : ) "

"I've been intending to email you for awhile after sending your book to my great-niece.
She is 4 years old and goes to preschool in the Orchard Park area near Buffalo, NY. She LOVED the book and took it to preschool where the teacher read it to the whole class.
So everybody was happy! Thanks for bringing so much fun and joy to so many..."

"I want to thank you for signing Airplanes in the Garden for my son. It
was a great birthday present, and we have read it several times. He even
read it to his grandmother. Very sweet.
"Airplanes in the Garden is also brilliantly written and illustrated. My son
loves it and so do I. I will continue to recommend it to friends and give
it as gifts."

"I had the privilege of bringing 3 of my 4 granddaughters (and my husband) to visit with you in St. Louis today and hear you talk about
monarch butterflies. They are my favorite, too, and we had the wonderful experience of raising two caterpillars to their butterfly stage last year. This year we did not see any of those caterpillars in my garden! That was disappointing.
Like, you, I truly feel responsible for the "care and feeding" of these beautiful creatures. I also keep other food and nectar sources in my yard including Lindera Benzoin for the Spicebush Swallowtail butterflies as well as many other nectar plants. I spend many hours just sitting and watching. How relaxing.
Not only have you written an informative and delightful book, but these kids got to meet a real author -- they have learned that the books they read from their library or that they buy are written by a real person.

“I am an artist, author and professional speaker. My wife and I are on a mission to annihilate Adultitis and
help people design lives with less stress and more fun. I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed sharing the book with my daughter Lucy.
Not quite three, she's a little young for the full concept, but she does love butterflies. I enjoyed the imaginative take on presenting the science of butterflies,
and as an artist, I especially enjoyed the vibrant, deliciously colorful artwork.”

“On another note, I am so happy I bought your children's book at the sea center for my nieces and nephew.
I will see them on Thanksgiving. It was a pleasant surprise to see your signature inside!
It will be a book they treasure AND I bet they will want to start a butterfly garden! They are 8, 7 and 4 years old. :)”

“Kylee (7 yr.) was here last week end. She found a monarch caterpillar, gathered some milk weed leaves, put them in a small clear plastic box with a vented cover, and by nightfall the caterpillar was hanging "J" like. In the morning he had turned into a bright green chrysalis!
Such fun! We read from your book to check our expectations! ...
GREAT and TIMELY BOOK!!!”

“Congratulations on writing the book I wish I had written!
It is very nicely done, and good information.”
